Ryan Miller serves as CME’s associate director for external relations. He also serves as project director for Mississippi Forge.
As associate director for external relations, Miller’s primary responsibilities surround interfacing with industry, government, manufacturing-based nongovernmental organizations, as well as regional economic development agencies. He also oversees the recruiting of undergraduate students for the CME academic program and assists the CME in its K-12 manufacturing education outreach.
As project director for Mississippi Forge, Miller oversees the implementation of MS Forge, a grant-funded project awarded to the CME from the Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment. The primary intent of MS Forge is to develop educational solutions that assist in enhancing the resiliency and readiness of the state’s defense workforce.
Additionally, Miller serves as the secretary for the Mississippi Automotive Manufacturing Association and a member of the Manufacturing Foresight Education and Workforce Working Group partnering with other universities and colleges. He also represents the CME on the Education Council for the Manufacturing Institute in Washington, D.C.
Miller served on Gov. Phil Bryant’s Mississippi Defense Industry Task Force as a technical advisor and as chairman of the board of directors for the Oxford/Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce in 2016-17.
He received his bachelor’s degree in international studies and law degree from the University of Mississippi. He is licensed to practice law in Mississippi. He is an adjunct faculty member of the School of Business Administration, where he teaches business law. He also recently participated in Leadership Mississippi, a leadership development program.
He has 10 years of experience in manufacturing-based education at the college level.
