The Center for Manufacturing Excellence is a truly unique undergraduate program. No other school or university in America offers our combination of interdisciplinary studies. Our students tailor their academic experiences to match their career goals and life objectives.
A common complaint in the industrial world is that academic institutions build walls between disciplines. This leads to business people not understanding what the engineers are describing. Likewise, it leads to engineers not understanding the plans of the business and accounting people.
The CME breaks down these walls and we require our students to have a fundamental understanding in multiple academic areas. Students from the schools of Business, Engineering, and Accounting all take classes together and learn to communicate in each others’ languages.
We think this makes our students superior graduates and industry seems to agree. CME graduates not only get more job offers after graduation but also get offered higher starting salaries than students graduating without an interdisciplinary education.
